So this was that second beer from the Mendocino Brewing Co. that I referred to in my previous post (part of the "build your own" that Adam got me.) I have to say that I was a little disappointed. I actually liked the Blue Heron Pale Ale better, which is odd because I really like stouts better than pale ales.
The Black Hawk was just a little too light. I was expecting a little more flavor. It reminded me a lot of Guinness Black Lager. Just like the flavor, the ABV of 5.2%, was a little weak as well. At least this beer was "easy drinkin."
The Black Hawk wasn't a bad beer. I just have come to expect more from a stout.......especially a "select stout." So far, the Mendocino Brewing Co. is batting .500 in my book.
